1967 GIBSON CENTURY 6 lap steel
This is a vintage 1967 Gibson Century 6 electric lap steel guitar. This particular example, serial number 007307, is in very nice condition. This incredibly rare incarnation of the Gibson Century lap steel was only offered in the 1967 Gibson catalog. These steel’s are the only Gibson lap steel to feature a mini-Humbucking pickup, which happens to have been installed in the same style as a reverse model Gibson Firebird. It also features a rich Cherry Red finish over a light-weight mahogany body, gold-anodized scratch plate and matching over-sized peghead plate, Witch Hat control knobs, mini-Humbucking pickup with no visible pole-pieces.

This Century 6 was shipped from the Kalamazoo factory in 1967 and is only 1 of 41 examples with the aforementioned specifications recorded to have been shipped within the ledger. Interestingly, examples have been documented with both silver and gold anodized hardware.
This lap steel works perfectly and sounds absolutely incredible. With harmonically rich overtones and a naturally beautiful tonality.
